Arts Update

E. Dan Klepper, Iron Mountain (Gold Train), 2026, Ed.25, Archival Pigment print on Hahnemuhle paper, 22 x 58 in

Foltz Fine Art is pleased to share the press release for What We Inherit: The Art and Legacy of Big Bend, a major exhibition bringing together generations of artists whose work has been profoundly shaped by the Big Bend region, on view at Foltz Fine Art through October 31, 2026.

More than an exhibition of landscape art, What We Inherit explores Big Bend as a place of relationship, memory, transformation, and inheritance. Bringing together contemporary and historic works across painting, photography, and works on paper, the exhibition considers the enduring connections between art, conservation, and cultural memory, while reflecting on the responsibility of preserving extraordinary landscapes for generations to come.

Presented in conjunction with What We Inherit is Terry Suprean: Fragments from the Chihuahuan Desert, a solo exhibition of new work inspired by Suprean’s sustained research and experiences in and around Big Bend.

Throughout the exhibition, Foltz Fine Art will host a series of programs, including artist talks, community events, and a special evening at the historic River Oaks Theatre featuring the panel discussion, The State of Big Bend – Perspectives from Artists, Activists, Locals, and Conservationists, followed by a screening of the award-winning documentary The River and the Wall.

Houston Grand Opera Expands Under 40 Friday Program for 2026-27 Season

$40 tickets to six Friday performances on sale starting today

The Houston Grand Opera (HGO) Has announced the expansion of its Under 40 Friday program, giving guests under 40 years of age the opportunity to access select Orchestra-level seats at a showing of every opera in the 2026-27 season for just $40. Tickets on offer through this program, which often sell out before productions open, are available starting today at HGO.org, subject to age verification.

In addition to excellent affordable tickets, Under 40 Friday attendees will enjoy a complimentary drink, access to a private lounge, and production-themed photo opportunities. This fall’s Under 40 Friday performance of Faust offers an extra reason to celebrate: taking place on Friday the 13th, HGO’s first-ever Masquerade Night at the Opera invites all guests to come in costume and enjoy themed entertainment, specialty cocktails, and more.

Launched in the 2024-25 season, HGO’s Under 40 Friday program quickly proved a success, offering discounted tickets for younger audiences to three performances. In 2025-26, tickets sold through the program increased by 143%, with every available seat selling out. Building on that momentum, HGO is expanding Under 40 Friday to include one showing of each opera in the 2026-27 season.
