Supporters joined 2024 Promise Ball Chairs Jordan and Brian Amis to kick off the “Hope Grows Here” themed gala benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) at the home of long-time supporters Freyja and Travis Lauritsen.

JDRF’s Southern Texas Chapter Executive Director Rick Byrd welcomed guests for an evening that included cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres from Masraff’s of Mini Tuna Tartar Tacos with Wasabi Aioli; Sweet Soy Glaze Southwestern Tenderloin and Truffle Oil Tomato Bruschetta for starterso90.

Promise Ball Chairs Jordan and Brian Amis shared their story of hope when JDRF came to their aid when their then 10-month-old son (now 15) was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. They also thanked the crowd for their support while introducing the gala team, which includes Corporate Underwriting Chair Will Shappley; Leadership Giving Chair Davis Bonham; Stewardship Chair Andrea Calo; and Auction Co-Chairs Lindsay Brett and Christie Stewart.

In addition to announcing the plans for the 2024 Promise Ball, the soiree also served to gather fine wines for the Promise Ball Wine Pull.

JDRF will celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of Houston’s highest netting fundraisers – the Promise Ball – at the Hilton Americas on Saturday, April 13, 2024, honoring Dr. Pam Carmain.  The evening will also celebrate Rosalyn and Barry Margolis with the Meredith and Fielding Cocke Visionary Award and will highlight the Cerny Family (Rose and Chris) as The Fund A Cure Family.

Host of Houston Texans TV Drew Dougherty will again serve as the Emcee and welcome guests to a powerful program celebrating advancements in the research and treatment of type 1 diabetes. Guests will enjoy a curated silent auction and a live auction led by Auctioneer Jim Jungers from Stokes Auction House. Additional fundraising activities include an exquisite wine pull and jewelry raffle and an opportunity to support T1D research during the Fund A Cure portion. Guests will finish the evening with a performance by the high energy pop rock cover band Skyrocket! or they can try their luck during the Casino Games After Party, sponsored and hosted by Liskow.

Tickets for the annual event start at $500 per person for an individual ticket, and numerous table sponsorships are available from $5,000-$100,000.

Board members, sponsors, and supporters joining in the kickoff celebration included: Marshall Lang, Andrea and Michael Soper, Linda and Bob Brown, Blayne Bonham, Lindsay and Tyler Brochstein, Dan Feather, and Sue Sue and Don Aron.
