Q& A Session with Diego Tano
Christina Pastrana: Could you give me some insights into a unique turnkey project and walk me through the obstacles you faced in this home remodel?
Diego: My Client sent me her favorite inspirational pics—5 or 6 of them . Those were to be translated to fit her needs. The location was the biggest challenge, along with how to install them accurately, including the dimensions and the exact location. The scope of the project was complicated and challenging. We were coordinating 10 teams of people, from the electrician, plumber, carpenters and all involved in the installation work was a lot of work and effort too.
CP: Please give me an idea of the total scope estimate.
Diego: Initially, it was to remodel a small pantry remodel, and then it grew to an entire home makeover due mainly because this couple doesn’t ever want to move and made it their forever home. They spent a lot and used very high finishes.
CP: I know I saw rooms that were just stunning, one in particular that had beautiful tile on the walls reminded me of a home I saw in River Oaks. Just Stunning. How do you collaborate with clients to bring their unique vision to life
Diego: It’s all about teamwork with my clients. I have a very honest approach where I give them feedback throughout the remodel. I want to answer very directly, and in turn, they can tell me what they are happy with and where we need to make changes. Keeping the communication very open is key to helping the client achieve their goals with success.
CP: Do you offer any special design services?
Diego: We can create a 3D Rendering of all the pics and files for the clients to review. It’s the best way for them to review the design, scope, and project designs.
CP: What emerging or niche remodeling trends are you exploring?
Diego: White Oak Cabinets and Panels. Also trending are Rose Gold finishes. Wallpaper is trending again. In this case, a Retro look for mirrors, handles, and all fixtures. Opposite of Minimalist design, and very complex.
CP: Beyond the beautiful finished product I witnessed, what was the most meaningful outcome of a recent remodel?
Diego: In this case, with Steve and Kim, working with them for 9 months, we now have a very close relationship. They saved up for the project for a very long them. She has been trying to replicate her childhood home. Also, they have been building a nest for the grandchildren and for the upcoming holidays to host all of the grandchildren. Proud to accomplish this for their family.
CP: What recent project are you most proud of or are looking forward to in the future?
Diego: The Magnolia home project is one I’m extremely proud of. All the personal work with the client brought me so much satisfaction, and it will be for their grandchildren visiting during the upcoming holidays. Also, our own recent home renovation project. It is a 7,500 square foot home we built with our bare hands. Major league remodel. The timeframe has been two years. Also, an upcoming home remodel in Prairie View. He wants a colonial floor plan with open spaces and a central area for the family to convene. Everything is centralized, super cozy, and open. He wants triple-panel windows, very intricate designs, and he wants to live in his forever home. In addition, we have been handling other remodels and Standard Garage Additions to homes in many areas in the Houston housing market.
