Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2018 by husband-and-wife team Steffanie and Matt Ball, En Gold began as a curated vintage collection on Instagram, quickly evolving into an original furniture brand with a uniquely identifiable aesthetic and a deeply engaged international following.
At the heart of En Gold is a steadfast commitment to celebrating the human touch and the artistry behind each thoughtfully crafted piece. The brand made waves as the first to reintroduce fossil stone furniture—an early forgotten artisanal technique using fossilized limestone from the Philippines. The debut collection sold out within an hour of launching online—marking not just a milestone for En Gold, but a revival of a craft on the brink of disappearance.
Over the past two years, Steffanie and Matt have immersed themselves in the Philippines, working closely with local artisans and refining En Gold’s collections through a deep understanding of noble, tactile materials—like limestone, native timbers such as gmelina and mahogany, and handwoven seagrass. The result is a body of work that feels at once contemporary and timeless.
“Our journey has always been about more than just furniture. It’s about creating a platform for artisans and celebrating pieces with heart—pieces that connect with people and carry a story designed to live with you for generations,” says co-founder Steffanie Ball.
Following immense success in Australia with their flagship Melbourne gallery, the founders have now established their home in Houston, Texas, driving the brand’s expansion across the US.
The new En Gold Houston gallery, which opened its doors less than six months ago, continues to showcase this commitment to artistry and thoughtful living. It features En Gold’s own collections alongside a carefully curated selection of Australian artists and brands, including original artworks by Denise Quah, White on Walls, and Karv Studio; Australian-made candles by Bordan; skincare by Gracious Minds; and natural linens by Cultiver.
