Generations of Lamar excellence were on full display as the Lamar High School Alumni Association gathered alumni, family, and friends for its 2026 Distinguished Alumni Luncheon, an event that recognizes graduates whose achievements extend far beyond the classroom.

Held at The Junior League of Houston, the event marked the 23rd year of this tradition, bringing together alumni from across decades to celebrate leadership and service.

This year’s honorees, spanning the 1950s through the 2000s, represent a diverse range of accomplishments and industries, united by a shared foundation at Lamar High School. The 2026 Reach for the Stars Hall of Fame honorees are:

  • Terrylin Gregory Neale, Class of 1958
  • Karen Tellepsen, Class of 1959
  • Barrett Reasoner, Class of 1982
  • Macey Reasoner Stokes, Class of 1985
  • Dr. Sinda K. Vanderpool, Class of 1991
  • Grant Pinkerton, Class of 2007

More than a celebration, the luncheon serves as a reminder of the role alumni play in shaping Lamar’s future. Funds raised through the event directly benefit the school, including scholarships, academic programs, fine arts, athletics, and campus improvements.

As public school funding continues to face increasing pressures, alumni-led support remains essential. Through events like the Distinguished Alumni Luncheon, the Lamar High School Alumni Association continues to bridge that gap, ensuring that today’s students have access to meaningful opportunities while honoring the legacy of those who came before them.

One of very few such high school associations in Texas and nationwide, Lamar High School Alumni Association (LHSAA), was established as a 501(c)3 in 1998 to serve the needs of Lamar’s present-day students. Thanks to the generosity of Lamar alumni, LHSAA is bridging the funding gap and helping to shape the school’s educational landscape. LHSAA supports the school by investing in student success, sustaining educational excellence, enhancing campus facilities, and fueling scholarships for future leaders.
