Funds raised will go to support local and state level animal welfare programs hosted by PetSet and their grantee partners across Texas
PetSet, a local nonprofit organization working to end Houston’s homeless animal crisis, is proud to announce that the organization raised nearly $1 million dollars at its annual fundraiser, Le Brunch, on Sept. 28!
The event, hosted at Le Tesserae, is PetSet’s largest annual fundraiser. This year, the event shifted from its traditional evening soirée format to a successful brunch. The event was co-chaired by Kirby Matocha Edmund, alongside Co-Presidents Tama Lundquist and Tena Lundquist Faust. Headlining was special guest Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters.
Guests at this year’s event include City of Houston Mayor John Whitmire, Texas State Senate Member Joan Huffman, and Host of Great Day Houston, Deborah Duncan, who also acted as the emcee for the event.
The funds raised are crucial for PetSet’s ability to issue grants to local shelters and rescue organizations. Last year, PetSet distributed over $400,000 to nearly 100 local partners, thanks in part to the generosity of the community. PetSet is confident this overwhelming show of support will allow them to sustain their vital granting program, especially considering the high volume of applications received this year.
PetSet Co-Presidents Tama Lundquist and Tena Lundquist Faust, and Event Co-Chair Kirby Matocha Edmund, expressed immense gratitude for the community’s support through Le Brunch, noting their hope that this success marks a turning point in Houston’s decades-long animal homelessness crisis.
“Thanks to the community support, we can continue to equip and bolster our local rescue and shelter partners through our granting program. They are the boots on the ground and we are thankful to be in a position to uplift them,” said PetSet Co-President Tena Lundquist Faust. “To everyone who made Le Brunch a success, we thank you. It is your generosity that leads us to finding a lasting solution. While it is a time to celebrate, it’s also time to work. We are eager to maximize the impact generated from this event.”
“Our community has been in a state of crisis for sometime. We have advocated for those who cannot speak for themselves for two decades now, and it’s a fight we will continue to champion. We are optimistic that through this fundraiser, we can create meaningful change. The time for action is now. PetSet is ready to lead the charge,” said PetSet Co-President, Tama Lundquist.
Over the course of the organization’s lifetime, PetSet has granted millions of dollars worth of grants to local and state wide rescue and shelter organizations. This year, PetSet will announce their full list of grantees at an event on Nov. 20th honoring their community partners.
